We are renewed each day, and each day is a new beginning. It depends on whether I reach out or just take my God for granted.
As they say, "A day can start any time." I can pause, stop and turn my day over to my God at any time during the day.
When I tried to quit smoking, my controlling issues came out. I was trying to make the cigarettes and the hours come together. I didn't want to have any left over, and if I was running out, I wasn't sure I would have enough to get to the end of day, what if I can't sleep.
Finally, I found the solution. I lit my last cigarette at 2:15 p.m. on December 21st, 1998, I had 7 years sober. When I butted the cigarette, I said, the Serenity Prayer and said, just for today, I choose not to use. I choose not to pick up this drug and went to NA meetings and applied the Steps, collected key tags. One day at a time, I have not picked up a cigarette. If I picked up a cigarette, it would kill me faster than picking up a drink.
